Emily Phipps is an artist, designer and medical doctor, working across various disciplines including ceramics, textiles and drawing. Emily draws on her experiences as a doctor to create her own expressions of self through raw, intuitive pieces. Born in Leicestershire, from an early age Emily was exposed to creativity and design through her family of printers, artists and drapers.

The slow action of construction and reflection in the building methods of her pieces bring a sense of wholeness and containment. The marks of hands and rudimentary tools merge with the elemental results of slow smoke firing to ground her forms in the bonds between person, industry and earth.
